Ceremonial grade matcha green tea powder 30g, organic
The Good Guys Matcha is a ceremonial grade green tea powder from the Fujieda region in Japan. This high quality product is made 100% from Yabukita tea leaves and it makes a rich and energising drink.
What is matcha?
Matcha is a cornerstone of Japanese tea culture as well as a widely used beverage amongst the Buddhist monks. Matcha has a long history and the culture around it has evolved over the years, as nowadays you can enjoy it as a quick take away or take part in a traditional tea ceremony.
Matcha leaves are picked in May after being shaded from direct sunlight for three weeks. As a result of growing in the shade, the newest puds are the most delicate, intense in colour and high in nutrients. Only the finest leaves are used to produce ceremonial grade matcha. The leaves are then ground with large stone wheels slowly to prevent scorching. This creates a fine powder that whisks into a wonderfully smooth matcha drink.
How to use it?
The traditional way of preparing matcha comes from the Japanese tea ceremony. By mixing the matcha powder into hot water using a bamboo whisk, you get a silky smooth and airy drink. Matcha is also widely used in cooking and baking due to its pleasant umami flavour and beautiful jade green colour.
Step by step instructions:
1. Take one table spoon of matcha powder and sift it into a bowl.
2. Add 70ml of hot water (approximately 80°C)
3. Use a bamboo whisk to mix for 15 seconds.
4. Your matcha drink is ready when it has a lovely jade green colour and there are no clumps visible.
5. Enjoy your freshly prepared matcha!
